The Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) educates design, research, and scholarship leaders to make a resilient, just, and beautiful world. The GSD offers degree programs across a range of design disciplines—architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, design engineering, and real estate—as well as advanced research programs that cut across these disciplines and a robust public program of lectures, exhibitions, and publications. The immense variety of people, programs, and ideas at the GSD sustains a vibrant, rich environment for learning, inquiry, and collaboration unlike any other design school. The Development and Alumni Relations office leads the School's fundraising and alumni engagement efforts. The team builds relationships with alumni and donors, managesmunications and events, and supports philanthropic initiatives that advance GSD priorities. Their work directly benefits students, faculty, and the broader designmunity by expanding resources for scholarships, research, programs, and facilities. This position will support the preparation and launch of the GSD Comeback event. It will initially begin at part-time, 14 hours/week from now through September 4th. The role will switch to full-time from September 5th - September 30, with additional hours of paid overtime as needed.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with GSD event logistics: liaising with media services, catering, and other vendors; liaising with GSD Facilities and Campus Operations; signage; transportation; tours; creating and editing room diagrams; and other program-specific activities w applicable. Assist with event registration tracking and troubleshooting issues as they arise. Assist with event marketing andmunications. Respond to email inquiries from GSD alumni and friends regarding fall events. Prep materials for fall events: attendee name badges, table tents, assembling tote bags with swag, etc. On-site event day support for
GSD Comeback:
registration, greeter, crowd management, time keeping, set up, break down, etc. Take minutes during event planning meetings. Other administrative duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an on-campus office setting. Work onsite for the
GSD Comeback:
Alumni & Friends Celebration 2026 (September 24-27) is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position involves frequent use ofputer keyboard and mouse. May be required to lift and handle event supplies weighing 20-30 lbs. Reasonable amodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
HS Diploma or equivalent, required. Strong technical acumen, including proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Express.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
BA/BS degree preferred. Excellent judgment,munication, customer service, and public relations skills. Strong attention to detail. Professional manner and excellentanizational skills. Demonstrated ability managing multiple projects under deadline. Ability to work calmly and collaboratively in pressurized situations and flexibility in adapting plans consistent with changing needs. Must work with confidentiality and have good judgment. Desired experience with event registration platforms.
