monthly installments via invoicing About Blue Star Families Blue Star Families (BSF) is a national nonprofit dedicated to supporting military families by providing programming and resources while strengthening their connections to their local communities. We partner with businesses, government agencies, and local organizations to create impactful programs that empower and uplift military families.
Independent Contractor Engagement Terms:
This independent contractor will be retained solely for project-based, outcome-driven services and will not be an employee, agent, or representative of Blue Star Families.
The independent contractor:
Will provide their own tools, equipment, and software necessary for completing deliverables. Is responsible for determining work methods, scheduling, and location of work. Maintains full control over how services are executed. Will invoice BSF on agreed terms and is responsible for their own tax obligations, insurance, and business expenses. May perform work for other clients and is not subject to BSF employee policies or supervision. Project Based Scope of Work Blue Star Families seeks an independent contractor to deliver event-based services in support of the Nourish the Service (NTS) program across the New England region. The contractor will be responsible for the planning and execution of four (4) food distribution events during the contract period. Services are project-based and outcome-driven, with the contractor maintaining discretion over how deliverables are achieved following Blue Star Families guidelines. Scope of Services 1. Event Delivery Plan and execute a minimum of three (3) and maximum of four (4) NTS food distribution events across the New England region (CT, ME, MA, NH, RI) within the contract period Deliver each event including: Secured venue and logistics coordination Food sourcing and distribution setup On-site execution and breakdown Ensure events are delivered in a manner aligned with BSF program intent and community standards Vendor & Resource Coordination Volunteer Engagement (Event-Specific) Community Partner Coordination Documentation of Event Statistics & Reporting Deliverables & Payment Terms Minimum of 3, Maximum of 4 completed events between {Month of Hire} and December 2026 Post-event summary report submitted within 48 hours after each event Optional periodic check-ins may be scheduled as needed to support deliverable alignment, not as ongoing supervision All services shall be delivered in accordance with agreed deadlines and milestones. Payment structure to be outlined in a separate contract. BSF shall not direct how services are performed — only that deliverables meet agreed results. Deliver a digital print-ready resource guide and accompanying materials that support military families in accessing food security resources, including curated referrals, navigation information, and awareness content aligned with Nourish the Service program goals.
Blue Star Families will provide:
Program guidelines and desired outcomes Brand standards and approval for vendor agreements when required Access to existing partnerships where appropriate The parties acknowledge and agree that the Contractor is engaged as an independent contractor and not as an employee, partner, joint venturer, or agent of Blue Star Families. Nothing in this agreement shall be construed to create an employer-employee relationship.
Contract Duration:
Through December 2026 with potential for renewal based on mutual agreement
Compensation:
$1500 per event, paid upon receipt of invoice This position is an independent contractor role (1099), not an employee or volunteer position The contractor is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and equipment unless otherwise specified and must adhere to all BSF confidentiality, ethics, and brand policies. The Contractor may provide services to other clients during the term of this agreement and is responsible for all business expenses, insurance, licensing, and compliance obligations related to their independent business. Any resources provided are for brand alignment purposes only and do not constitute control over the manner or means of the Contractor's work.
