Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules based on event needs. Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods. Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Reliable transportation and dependable attendance. Desired Qualifications Previous experience in event operations, facility management, customer service, hospitality, recreation, or athletics. Experience working athletic contests, tournaments, concerts, or special events. Familiarity with NCAA Division I athletics. Current Oakland University student or recent graduate preferred. Experience working with diverse populations and providing exceptional customer service. Basic knowledge of event safety and crowd management practices. Position Purpose The Facility Event Staff position supports the successful operation of Oakland University Athletics facilities and game-day events. This casual role assists with event setup and breakdown, guest services, facility preparation, crowd management, and operational support to ensure a safe, welcoming, and professional environment for student-athletes, coaches, officials, fans, and guests. Facility Event Staff serve as representatives of Oakland University Athletics and play an important role in delivering a first-class event experience. Job Duties Event Setup & Breakdown Assist with the setup and breakdown of athletic contests, practices, camps, and special events. Arrange tables, chairs, signage, barricades, hospitality areas, and other event equipment. Prepare competition venues and support spaces according to event requirements. Assist with post-event cleanup and facility reset. Facility Operations Monitor assigned facility areas during events. Conduct routine inspections of event spaces and report maintenance or safety concerns. Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and professional environment. Ensure designated areas remain accessible and event-ready. Guest Services Provide directions and assistance to fans, participants, officials, and visitors. Answer general questions regarding facilities and event operations. Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. Event Support Assist game management personnel with operational needs during athletic events. Assist with crowd management and emergency response procedures under staff direction. Support special events, tournaments, camps, and community engagement activities. Safety & Compliance Follow University, departmental, and facility policies and procedures. Report accidents, incidents, safety hazards, or facility concerns immediately. Assist in maintaining a safe environment for all event participants and guests. Other Duties This position requires work in indoor and outdoor athletic facilities under varying weather conditions. Duties involve standing, walking, lifting, carrying equipment, and performing physical event support tasks for extended periods. Work schedules are based on athletic competition and event calendars and include evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. Perform other related duties as assigned to support Athletics event and facility operations.
