Job Description

The Development-Fundraising Associate plays a crucial role in advancing NMSA's mission by actively engaging with donors to secure financial support. This position is responsible for coordinating campus tours, facilitating introductions to key NMSA - Art Institute personnel and Board of Directors, arranging solicitation meetings with the Executive Director, managing the donor database, and overseeing donor acknowledgments. The ideal candidate will be personable, organized, and passionate about the arts and education. Responsibilities General
  • Actively engages with current and prospective donors to cultivate relationships and secure financial contributions
  • Coordinates and leads personalized tours of the NMSA campus, showcasing the school's programs and impact
  • Facilitates introductions between donors and key staff, faculty, and Board of Directors members to deepen engagement
  • Arranges and schedules solicitation meetings between donors and the Executive Director
  • Ensures timely follow-up and acknowledgment of donations
  • Researches new prospects across New Mexico
  • Manages the Art Fee process and collection
  • Attend students performances in all departments

  • Assists in planning and executing donor-related events and receptions
  • Collaborates with the development team to identify opportunities for donor recognition and engagement with the Executive Director, is a key administrator for Circle of the Arts and ArtSpring donor events. Administrative Support
  • Maintains accurate records of donor interactions and engagements in the CRM system
  • Prepares briefing materials for the Executive Director and other leadership ahead of donor meetings
  • Monitors and manages the scheduling of donor meetings and campus visits
  • Generates reports on fundraising metrics and donor engagement for internal review and analysis Qualifications
  • Demonstrates a deep belief in and commitment to the mission of New Mexico School for the Arts
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or a related area
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in an educational or arts-focused nonprofit organization
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Strives for excellence in this job
  • Ability to work with people of all backgrounds and ages
  • Willingness to assist with whatever needs to get done for the success of the organization
  • Professional appearance and phone manner
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software (e.g. Bloomerang, Raiser's Edge, Salesforce)
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events
  • Familiarity with the New Mexico philanthropic community
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds for event setup Travel Required Some travel around the state of New Mexico will be required.
Performance Measurements All Art Institute employees will be evaluated yearly and will create a professional development plan, including setting beginning-of-year goals. They will have periodic walkthroughs and observations, a mid-year review, and an end-of-year review. Please see the detailed description and timeline for this process in the Evaluation document.
