So What (Exactly) is an Event Producer?
  • Event Producers partner closely with clients, vendors, and internal HMC staff to bring clients' visions of all shapes and sizes to life
  • whether it's a wedding, a corporate gala, or intimate dinner party.
Responsibilities include proposal writing and editing; meeting with clients and understanding their needs and visions for their event; visiting venues and creating floor plans; managing multiple projects; leading a 2-person team and taking responsibility for developing their assistant's productivity through proficiency in division processes and supporting software; and work assignments from a variety of staff. You'll serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters and assist with managing on-site production and clean up for events as necessary. Hospitality is a fast-paced, dynamic industry and life at HMC is no exception. Here you'll need to be able to shift between tasks, frequently, while still having a high attention to detail and quality. You'll do administrative tasks like proposal generation and your next task might be conducting a walk-through of the venue for your client's wedding. You'll also be attending the events (weekend availability is required), working with the HMC team to ensure the event goes smoothly. Maintaining a positive and professional attitude is paramount.
The Minimum You'll Do:
  • Develop strong customer relationships and maintain connection with existing clients through professional, courteous, and ethical interpersonal interaction.
Customize menus, menu tastings, AV, décor packages, room capacities, bar set up. Be enthusiastic (Over the Moon!) about exceptional client experiences and a positive, motivational team member. Contribute to the development and implementation of selling strategies, methods, and goals. Strive to understand the overall market; competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, industry seasonality, and how to leverage the information to close proposals. Utilize Catering proposal and rental software to trace sales activities & correspondence with clients to ensure prompt communications including proposals, floor plans, rental lists, etc. Maintain professional relationships and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and webinars; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies. All of this accumulated knowledge must also be shared and understood by the event production assistant. Solicitation of new and existing accounts to exceed revenue goals. This involves making cold calls and direct sales calls. In addition, maintaining good working relationships with existing clients while exploring ways to increase revenue. Need high energy and quality work ethic. Set and meet (exceed!) goals and work with sales budgets.

Your Experience, Education, and Training:
  • You've got about 3-5 years of sales experience in food & beverage, restaurant, or hospitality.
You've got experience with customized menus, menu tastings, AV, décor packages, room capacities, and bar set up. You're proficient in Microsoft Office.
