Job Description:
New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra (NJIO) is seeking a warm, patient, and detail-oriented Member and Volunteer Manager to serve as the primary point of contact and support system for our orchestra members. This role is central to the member experience at NJIO, from the moment a prospective member first inquires through every rehearsal and concert of the season. The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder who thrives on solving problems, keeping things organized, and making people feel welcome and valued. Member Services and Registration Serve as the first point of contact for prospective and current members: respond to inquiries, manage registration (regular season and summer), coordinate scholarships, and verify ensemble placement with conductors and the Operations Manager. Maintain accurate member lists for attendance, communications, reporting, and program books, coordinating with the Admin & Data Manager and Design & Web Manager as needed. Track attendance and follow up on absences, sending a weekly summary of anticipated absences to artistic staff ahead of rehearsals. Serve as the main point of contact for member questions, concerns, and special requests, and share logistics and updates between members and NJIO staff. Compile membership statistics and reports as needed. Plan and lead community-building activities (e.g. Open House, Members' Recital, social events). Volunteer Management Chair and grow the Sunshine Committee and Welcome Wagon Committee; recruit and train lobby volunteers and other event/mailing support from within the orchestra. Rehearsal, Concert, and Summer Program Presence Attend regular season rehearsals and act as lobby captain at NJIO's 4 annual concerts, serving as a welcoming resource for members and audiences. Provide the same presence and logistical support during summer programming, including coordinating the Conducting Institute application process.
Time Commitment:
This is a hybrid position. Any work from home can be done on a flexible schedule. This position is required to be onsite (Summit, NJ) for rehearsals, concerts, summer rehearsals, and other events.
Rehearsals:
Thursdays 4:00-9:45pm, September through April- 4 annual concerts: Sundays in November, December, February, and April (various venues in Union, Morris, or Essex counties)
- Summer rehearsals: Select evenings in July/August (~6-10 dates)
