Job Description

Major Duties:
Assist Culinary Ministry in the setup, teardown, and cleanup of all events for Bellevue Baptist Church, including catered and conference events inside or outside of the main building.
Specific Tasks:
Clean all areas and venues after an event and reset for the next event. Take care of all linen appropriately. Set up rooms for events that involve Culinary, which includes the following tasks:
  • Setting up all tables and chairs.
  • Covering tables with linens when appropriate.
  • Emptying all trash cans and replacing with new bags.
  • Vacuuming rooms.
  • Setting tables for banquets and dinners.
  • Cleaning hard service floors.
  • Cleaning and maintaining drink closets.
  • Assisting in the dish room.
Complete all other duties as assigned by the Culinary Manager.
Specific Experience Required:
Familiar with safe food handling, identification, and storage Hands-on experience with professional kitchen equipment. Understanding of health and safety rules in the kitchen. Experience with local Health Department food safety guidelines.
Specific Skills Required:
General mathematics and reading Operating heavy mechanical equipment Multitasking Interpersonal skills Organization Kitchen equipment and food storage knowledge
Supervised By:
Culinary Ministry Manager Supervisor's Philosophy:
The employee should assume the integrity and honesty of others. He or she should be hardworking and reliable and have good leadership skills. The supervisor encourages a positive work experience. The supervisor will provide guidance and direction, but the employee is expected to take initiative and be able to work independently. Cooperation and teamwork from all employees in Culinary Ministry is mandatory.
Co-Workers of this position:
Must work closely with the Culinary Ministry manager, BOH staff, FOH staff, and Culinary Coordinator to successfully complete all Culinary Ministry Events.
Days/Hours:
Primarily Monday-Friday, but occasional weekends are required for church event, weddings, and other special events. 40 hours a week is typical, with some overtime.
Safety/Ergonomic Issues:
This job requires heavy lifting, long periods of standing, and the ability to move unbalanced equipment.
Work Environment Situations:
There will be some early or late starting times. The work environment can be very loud at time and extremely crowded. The employee will work closely with Culinary staff as well as church members and volunteers.
Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certificate/License Required:
Accreditation preferred, but not required
Specific Experience Required:
Familiar with food service experience is preferred but not required.
Physical Abilities:
Long periods of standing, walking, bending, and hauling food service equipment to and from events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
