Job Description
The City of Llano is seeking a skilled individual to join our team as a full-time Events Center and Arena Manager of the John L. Kuykendall Eventer Center and Arena. This position uses knowledge, skills, and abilities in the areas of event management, venue management, tourism, marketing and promotion, budgeting, staff management and leadership, concessions, and facility management with an emphasis on equine events. Leads the setup and tear down of expo events and festival-type events while providing great customer service and attention to detail establishing the facility as a premier destination. The Manager plays a key role in establishing the future direction of the Event Center and Arena. Responsibilities Exercises direct, first-level supervision of positions, employees, operations, and activities. Develops and implements an effective and comprehensive budget of expenditures, maximizing revenues. Prepares facilities and setups for events/meetings and subsequent teardowns on a daily/weekly basis per the event calendar. Provides lead accountability for other employees within the work unit; plans and schedules work assignments for crews; ensures equipment and supplies are available, including proper safety equipment. Maintains related records and reports. Performs and supervises minor maintenance tasks; fabricates, constructs, and repairs event equipment; performs and oversees minor repairs and maintenance on event equipment, facilities, buildings, and grounds. Estimates the time, equipment, manpower, and leads in developing event set-up timelines; resolves related event set-up problems and adjusts plans as needed to accommodate conditions; leads in the layout of events. Operates and maintains a wide variety of equipment and heavy equipment. Provides information and directions to the public. Communicates effectively with event coordinators concerning event setups, event setup changes, and problems or issues arising during events. Tracks and communicates expenses with event coordinators via software program, email, or verbal communication. Uses a computer sufficiently to communicate with other staff using email, and simple Microsoft Word and Excel documents. Supports the removal of debris from Event Center entrances, sidewalks, parking lots, and roadways. And other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will:
Have at least three years of knowledge and skills leading teams to set up and tear down exhibitions, concerts, and event festivals. Have a working knowledge of exhibitions and outdoor event festivals. Have or be able to require a certified manager of equine centers certificate within 5 years Qualifications All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process. Three (3) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required or certification. Bachelor's degree and/or High School diploma or GED required, supplemented by experience in equipment operation and building/facility maintenance required, with minimum of two years of professional management experience. Possession of a valid Driver's License is required. Supplemental Information Must be able to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.
