•Job Description•Summer 2026 Sidestreet Pho is a well-established, high-volume, full service Vietnamese restaurant in downtown Alameda. We are currently looking for a generalist front of house staff to start as soon as possible. Sidestreet Pho's mission is to provide the best Vietnamese food to people of all backgrounds and ages. We want to serve our local community with thoughtful hospitality, fostering relationships with those who come in regularly. We uphold consistency in customer service, quality of food and drink, and recognizing and getting xto know our guests.
The Story:
When founder Hanh Nguyen was a child, her parents ran a Vietnamese restaurant, Thanh My, in the Westminster/Garden Grove area. Ms. Hanh grew up in that restaurant at a time when the restaurant was surrounded by strawberry fields. Since then, that area has grown to be one of the largest Vietnamese communities in the states with Thanh My as one of core institutions. Thanh My will be turning 50 in 2028. At the center of Thanh My's story was the desire to serve the best food and hospitality possible to guests of all ages and backgrounds. Founder Hanh and her husband have brought that DNA north to the Bay Area through Sidestreet Pho, where we continue to serve traditional Vietnamese food for a diverse guest base.

We strive to create a space that welcomes every single person who walks through the door. Because of this, we're looking for people that care about customer service and hospitality, and are willing to closely follow procedures on how to execute great hospitality. You should enjoy working in an environment that calls on you to do a lot of different things. This is a fast-paced environment, and there's always something to do, whether it's serving guests, helping prep drinks, keeping the space clean/tidy, or packaging to-go orders. We're hoping that this can be a long-term commitment for you, a workplace that you grow with as you deepen your relationship with the space and the team.
Work Schedule:
We're looking for someone part-time who can work 3-6 shifts per week. Shifts are approximately 4-8 hours, scheduled between Thursday through Monday, 10:45 am to 10pm. Weekend and evening availability is required. We have an all staff quarterly meeting/on-site work day.
Nature of The Work:
You will be responsible for being competent at the following roles, but we will schedule you in what roles you fit best in:
Server:
Being the face of our customer service and hospitality Providing full customer service and hospitality to every dine in guest, per our standards Handling payment precisely Checking and administering to-go orders Aid in cleaning/restocking
Bar:
Making drinks and drink ingredients Bussing tables Aiding servers in doing their job Aid in cleaning/restocking
Expo:
Orchestrating kitchen coursing Delivering dishes from the kitchen to guests Packaging to go orders Aid in cleaning/restocking
Compensation & Employment:
We offer an hourly base wage of $17.76/hour, paid every two weeks. Overtime (1.5x pay) begins after 8 hours.
Qualifications:
Be able to communicate effectively in English to coworkers, members, and management Ability to carry a 25 lb. tray on your shoulder Ability to carry 30-40 lb. bus tub of dirty dishes at waist level Must be willing to stand, walk, lift, and carry trays/ bus tubs during entire shift Smile and have a positive attitude Show up in proper uniform (i.e. Black collared shirt, black pants, black shoes) Employees must be well groomed (i.e. Showered, teeth brushed, hair combed, hair pulled back if it touches the shoulders, men are clean shaven or have neatly trimmed beards, etc.) Be willing to complete side jobs during slow periods in service Be willing to ask questions or to ask for help if needed Be willing to accommodate special requests Be a team player Employee must work in a safe manner when lifting trays and dealing with hot items (food, plates, coffee, hot water, etc.) Arrive on time to scheduled shifts.
