You'll be responsible for carefully packing and processing outbound orders, many containing fragile, temperature sensitive cheeses and perishables, and ensuring every package arrives at its destination in perfect condition. This role requires precision, speed, and a genuine respect for the products you're handling. Responsibilities Pack and process daily outbound orders, including perishable cheese and specialty food and fragile shipments shipments Handle and safely apply ice and cold packs according to temperature control protocols Select appropriate packaging (insulated boxes, liners, void fill) based on order contents and transit time Prepare FedEx shipments: generate labels, schedule pickups, and coordinate with FedEx representatives Monitor daily shipment deadlines and prioritize orders to meet carrier cutoff times Inspect outgoing packages for quality, accuracy, and secure packaging before dispatch Receive and organize inbound deliveries; assist with stockroom organization Maintain a clean, organized, and food safe work environment Communicate any shipment issues, delays, or damaged goods promptly Assist with inventory counts and restocking as needed

Qualifications Required:

Prior experience handling and packing perishable food items Hands on experience shipping with FedEx/UPS (label creation, drop-off, pickup scheduling, tracking) Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work quickly and accurately under time pressure, especially around daily carrier cutoff windows Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods

Preferred:

Experience at a specialty food store, grocery, or gourmet food company Familiarity with temperature-sensitive shipping requirements and transit time considerations Experience with shipping software or order management systems A passion for or curiosity about artisan cheese and specialty foods Experience with packaging shipments and ability to make suggestions on best practices for shipping and packaging Schedule Availability on weekdays required; weekend availability is a plus. Schedule may vary based on order volume and seasonal demand (holidays are our busiest time).
