Our Story … Humphry Slocombe is a San Francisco based scoop shop known for bold, handcrafted ice cream and a whole lot of personality. Since opening in 2008, we've grown to 9 Bay Area locations, a busy Events team, and pints in specialty grocery stores. Inspired by British comedy ( Are You Being Served? ), our name keeps people guessing—and so do our flavors. We don't really think of our flavors as unusual and that's why we let our guests sample everything we have. Everything! Here is what we do everyday We prepare the shop before we open the doors so we are ready to welcome customers in. This means we make sure every step our customers take from the sidewalk to the dip case and everything in between is as good as the quality and flavors of our ice cream. Whether we are making the perfect scoop, float or sundae we have a personal responsibility to get it right for the customer and to live up to all the hard work it took to get the ice cream to the shops. We have many responsibilities during the day including food preparation, cleaning and following up on shop communications and operations. All of these things are done with a "drop what you're doing attitude" when a customer walks through the door. After a hard day's work we set up the shop for the next day and we'll do it again tomorrow. You are the right fit if: You are passionate about food, flavors and the emotions they invoke and you like to talk about it. You are curious about how things work and are willing to fix or improve things when you see the opportunity. You have integrity and you do the right thing even when it's hard or when no one is looking. You can communicate verbally and written clearly and effectively. You can carry out your daily responsibilities as part of a supervised team or work unsupervised and still have the same level of execution. Basic Qualifications Be social, polite and build relationships with everyone that walks through the door. Know your flavors and recipe standards so you can talk to and serve customers confidently. Be able to stay up to date on our rotating flavors and recipes, shop communication and operational policies on every shift and be ready to take action when it's needed. Arrive and clock in on time and in dress code to every shift. Be responsible for the food safety & cleanliness standards of your Shop. Be responsible for your shop's business success by ringing accurately, handling cash carefully and recommending add-ons to every customer. We require that you are available for 2 of the 3 weekend days at the minimum. Be responsible for shop operations and routines including ordering and inventory.
