Primary duties include watering, fertilizing, pruning, weeding, cleaning, organizing, and maintaining plant material. This is a hands-on, physically demanding outdoor position. Team members may also assist with loading and unloading, preparing orders, moving plant material, general nursery work, and occasionally assisting the Delivery and Install Crew at customer job sites. The ideal candidate is dependable, observant, safety-conscious, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Key Duties & Responsibilities Plant Care & Assigned Section Maintain the health, organization, cleanliness, and appearance of an assigned nursery section. Water trees, shrubs, and other containerized plants thoroughly and as needed. Fertilize and apply other plant-care materials as directed and when properly trained. Prune, trim, stake, tie, and maintain plant material. Weed containers, aisles, and surrounding areas. Organize, straighten, space, and stage plants. Remove dead leaves, branches, weeds, and other debris. Monitor plants for signs of stress, pests, disease, irrigation problems, or other concerns and report problems to a supervisor. Assist with irrigation, transplanting, potting, and other plant-care activities as needed. General Nursery Duties Load and unload trees, shrubs, plants, soil, pottery, and other materials. Move, stage, and organize plant material. Pull and prepare customer orders. Assist with receiving incoming plants and supplies. Clean and organize nursery work areas and equipment. Assist other nursery sections and team members as needed. Delivery & Installation Support Field Crew Team Members may occasionally assist the Delivery and Install Crew, including: Loading and unloading plants and installation materials. Traveling to customer homes or businesses. Digging, planting, and moving trees, shrubs, soil, and other materials. Cleaning job sites and removing debris. Performing other delivery and installation duties as directed. Tools, Equipment & Safety Safely use appropriate hand tools, power tools, and nursery equipment. Operate equipment only when properly trained and authorized. Follow all Garden View Nursery safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain tools and work areas in a safe and organized condition. Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, injuries, or other concerns. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Nursery, landscaping, agriculture, or similar outdoor work experience is preferred but not required. Basic plant-care knowledge is beneficial but not required. Ability and willingness to learn proper care of container-grown plants. Ability to follow instructions and established safety procedures. Dependable and able to work independently and as part of a team. Comfortable working outdoors in direct sunlight, heat, dust, and changing weather conditions. Ability to repeatedly lift and move heavy objects weighing 40 pounds or more . Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Relevant work experience, training, or equivalent knowledge may also be considered. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Team members must be able to: Frequently lift, carry, push, pull, and move items weighing up to 40 pounds or more . Stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently bend, reach, kneel, stoop, crouch, and perform repetitive physical tasks. Pull and move hoses and watering equipment throughout the workday. Work safely on wet, muddy, dusty, and uneven surfaces and around vehicles and equipment. Work outdoors in direct sunlight, heat, cold, dust, noise, and changing weather conditions. Schedule & Employment Requirements This is a full-time position . Work may be scheduled on any of the seven days of the week based on business and plant-care needs. Weekend and holiday work may be required for watering and plant care. Candidates must be able to meet Garden View Nursery's applicable pre-employment requirements. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
