Cat Care Durango is looking for a compassionate, dependable, and hardworking Cat Care Technician to join our team! This is an animal care and shelter operations position focused on providing excellent daily care for our cats and maintaining a clean, healthy, and welcoming environment. This is not a veterinary technician or medical care position , although administering routine medications is part of the job. What You'll Do Provide daily care, feeding, and enrichment for cats Clean and sanitize cat rooms, litter boxes, food dishes, kennels, and common areas Administer routine oral or topical medications according to instructions Monitor cats for changes in behavior, appetite, or general well-being and report concerns to management Provide socialization, enrichment, and compassionate care Assist with admitting, moving, and caring for cats throughout the facility Wash laundry, restock supplies, and maintain an organized facility Follow shelter sanitation and biosecurity protocols Assist visitors and potential adopters with questions and provide a welcoming experience Work as part of a team to keep the facility running smoothly Perform other duties as needed We're Looking For Someone Who Has a genuine passion for cats and animal welfare Is dependable, responsible, and detail-oriented Is comfortable with frequent cleaning and physically active work Can work independently as well as part of a team Is patient, compassionate, and observant Is comfortable working in a busy shelter environment Is willing to learn and pitch in wherever needed Can work a flexible schedule, including weekends Is at least 18 years old No previous shelter experience is required. We are willing to train the right person who has a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to care for animals. Physical Requirements This is an active position requiring standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting, and frequent cleaning throughout each shift. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 pounds . Bonus Skills The primary focus of this position is excellent daily care for our cats, but additional skills are always welcome.
