Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a friendly and efficient Deli Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving food items, maintaining cleanliness, and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong food handling skills, familiarity with POS systems, and a passion for the food industry. Previous experience in food service or retail is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate. The Deli Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience through exceptional service and quality food presentation. Responsibilities Prepare and serve deli items, including slicing meats and cheeses, assembling sandwiches, and maintaining food freshness. Assist customers with product selection, answer questions about food options, and upsell items to enhance sales. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the deli area, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures. Restock shelves, organize displays, and ensure all products are properly labeled and presented attractively. Manage cash handling duties accurately, including processing payments and giving correct change. Support food safety protocols by adhering to sanitation guidelines and proper storage practices. Ensure efficient time management during busy periods to serve customers promptly while maintaining quality standards. Experience Previous experience in food preparation, cashiering, or retail environments such as grocery stores or quick service restaurants is preferred. Familiarity with food safety standards and sanitation practices within the food industry. Strong customer service skills with the ability to upsell products effectively. Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math, and managing transactions accurately. Knowledge of culinary techniques or kitchen experience is advantageous but not required.
