Front of House Associate — A'a Roots (Maui) About A'a Roots A'a Roots is one of Maui's only fully vegan restaurants, serving a mix of visitors from around the world and a strong community of daily regulars. We're a small, positive, fast‑moving café where good energy matters just as much as good food. We're looking for a Front of House Associate who brings warmth, efficiency, and aloha to every shift. Position Overview The Front of House Associate is the first point of contact for our guests. This role includes taking orders through Square, running food, bussing tables, maintaining a clean dining area, and communicating clearly with both customers and the back‑of‑house team — especially regarding allergies and dietary restrictions. You'll help create a welcoming experience for tourists discovering us for the first time and for regulars who visit every day.

Compensation Training Pay:

$18/hour

Starting Pay:

$20/hour + tips Key Responsibilities Take customer orders accurately using Square POS Greet guests with a friendly, positive, and patient attitude Serve food to tables and ensure orders are delivered correctly Communicate any allergies, dietary needs, or special requests to the kitchen Buss, wipe, and reset tables to maintain a clean dining area Keep FOH areas tidy, stocked, and organized Assist with light cleaning tasks throughout the shift Manage time effectively during busy rushes Build rapport with regulars while helping tourists feel welcomed and informed Represent A'a Roots' values and vegan mission with kindness and professionalism What We're Looking For Strong communication and customer service skills Friendly, approachable, and grounded personality Ability to multitask and stay calm during busy periods Comfortable learning and using Square POS Reliable, punctual, and team‑oriented Awareness of food allergies and willingness to communicate clearly with BOH Previous restaurant experience is helpful but not required Why Work at A'a Roots Positive, community‑focused environment Be part of one of Maui's only vegan restaurants Connect with both locals and visitors from around the world Supportive small team with room to grow
