In this lively role, you'll be the face of our deli department, providing exceptional service while preparing fresh, delicious food. and sandwiches in a fast paced Beach deli location in Ocean grove New Jersey. Your energy and attention to detail will ensure a clean, organized workspace and satisfied customers who keep coming back. Must be able to work deli counter and process payments on cash register, credit card transactions on Apple Square and take phone orders along with knowledge of Doordash. Able to slice meats and cheeses and prepare deli sandwiches. Responsibilities Prepare a variety of deli foods with precision, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met Assist customers with their food orders, offering product recommendations and upselling items to enhance their experience Maintain a clean, sanitized workspace by following food safety protocols and sanitation guidelines Manage cash register operations, including processing cash, credit card transactions, Doordash and handling cash safely Restock deli items regularly to ensure freshness and availability for customers Operate kitchen equipment safely, including slicers, warmers, and other food preparation tools Support food safety management practices by adhering to proper food handling procedures and sanitation standards Engage in food service customer order management to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction Assist with bussing tables, cleaning work areas, and maintaining overall cleanliness of the deli section Qualifications Previous experience in food preparation or food service environments such as quick service or fast-food restaurants is highly desirable Familiarity with POS systems like Aloha POS or Micros POS is preferred Strong customer service skills with the ability to upsell products confidently Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and retail math calculations Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting Retail sales experience or grocery store experience is a plus Food industry or restaurant experience demonstrating familiarity with serving customers and managing food orders Join us as a Deli Clerk and become an essential part of creating a welcoming environment where great food meets outstanding service!
