Job Description
The Company The Wine County Store is a locally and family-owned Chevron station and store / deli located in Walla Walla, WA. Our vision is to provide our customers with an experience that transcends the typical gas station convenience store. Our customers frequently report "this is the nicest gas station in Washington." The Wine Country Store is a rapidly growing gourmet deli that is becoming a highly sought-after destination for tourists and locals alike. We are growing to offer a selection of the best Walla Walla wines, gourmet sandwiches with homemade focaccia bread, salads and deli items, exquisite cheese and charcuterie boards, and other tasty treats. The food and beverage operation is the heart of the business and our highest growth business opportunity. Job Responsibilities The Prep Cook / Baker / Sandwich Maker plays a central role in maximizing the growth and success of the Wine Country Store, reports to the Food & Beverage Manager, and is responsible for the following primary duties: Bake various items, including but not limited to homemade focaccia bread, cookies, etc. Cook "Grab and Go" food items, including but not limited to salads, pasta salads, deli sides, frozen meals, etc. Make sandwiches, cheese & charcuterie boards, and other food products made to order and for "grab and go" inventory. Wash dishes, pots and pans as needed. Clean the food preparation areas, stockroom, bathrooms and store as needed. Assist in stocking shelf space, maintaining shelf price labels, and front-facing merchandise throughout the store. Conduct inventory audits, as needed. Perform other store duties flexibly as required, including working the cash register when needed. Part-time and full-time positions available on a consistent work schedule. Be available to cover staff shifts at other times and work overtime hours, if needed. Qualifications Always maintains a warm and friendly attitude with all customers and colleagues. Willing to do whatever it takes to achieve customer satisfaction. Experience in restaurants, catering and/or food preparation preferred. Ability to receive direction and learn new things quickly. Work hard, quickly and with a positive attitude. Excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. A minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
