We started in 2020 selling single-sourced oolong tea from Taiwan, and are now crafting our small batch kombucha. The Role The Brewer supports our brewing team in executing all brews at Joimo Kombucha! You will have the opportunity to join our growing team and showcase your expertise and passion by assisting in all aspects of the brewing process, recipe execution, and quality control. What You'll Be Doing Brewing, packaging, and maintaining the brewery Delivering exceptional customer service with guests, team members, and vendors Maintaining a clean, safe, healthy, and sustainable brewery and tasting room environment Championing a safety-first, people-first work environment Properly handling and reporting accidents timely and efficiently Communicating with other departments to promote teamwork and foster a harmonious working climate The role is responsible for brewing related activities including, but not limited to, the following: Brewery Management and Sanitation Controls Executing brews and troubleshooting all functions of the brewery per standard operating procedures Bottling, canning, and/or kegging of finished products and other related packaging Receiving and proper storage of raw materials Maintaining an organized and sanitary environment, including, but not limited to, organizing and cleaning floors, walls, tanks, ceilings, fermentation room, storage area, and other related spaces CIP and preparation of brews, fermentation, and tank(s) Aseptically transferring product to and from brew tanks, fermenters, barrels, and Brite tanks and transferring and handling finished product, including, but not limited to, carbonation, and recording and packaging preparation Proper handling of liquid and cellulosic phases of SCOBY propagation Receiving and proper storage of raw materials, equipment maintenance, repair, and fire inspection Racking, tasting, treatment and staging Assists with warehouse organization, inventory management, and maintaining a clean and efficient production environment Working closely with the production team Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Record Keeping Performing proper lab work, including, but not limited to, sampling, analysis, and documentation of brews in accordance with schedule. Monitoring vital fermentation critical control points including, but not limited to, target gravity, pH, temperature and pressure Performing with sensory evaluation is monitored responsibly, effectively, and results are communicated constructively Performing assessment of fermenting products for appropriate processing, including, but not limited to, addition of flavors, fruits, herbs, spices, crashing tanks, filtration, etc. Collecting and coordinating sample drop-off for third-party laboratory testing, ensuring proper sanitation, and temperature controls Maintaining records for accurate inventory and products (for TTB and tax-related and financial managerial purposes) Other Occasionally assists with product delivery to accounts as needed to ensure timely fulfillment Participating in Company activities/events, as needed Other duties as assigned Essential Skills and Requirements 2+ years of commercial brewing experience Extensive knowledge of the brewing process, equipment, and ingredients Must be at least 21 years of age and able to provide proof of authorization and/or eligibility to work in the United States of America Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license; brewing, engineering and/or other related education preferred Physically be able to bend over, twist, kneel, climb stairs, use ladders, stand all day, lift at least 65lbs, work in a non-temperature-controlled environment and repeatedly handle hot and cold liquids Work on a ladder periodically, up to heights of 15 feet Able to stand for long periods of time, up to 8 hours or more per day Ability to taste-test products at critical points of production Drive a small truck (California Class "C" license required); includes barrel handling Ability to operate a forklift; must be forklift-certified ServSafe and LEAD certified Willingness to work occasional weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed Ability to troubleshoot, meet deadlines, and be punctual Computer proficient, including, but not limited to, MS Office Written and verbal communication skills Strictly follow recipes and standard operating procedures while recommending ways of improving them Must be able to maintain professionalism at all times, contribute to a healthy work environment, and be a team player Ability to make critical decisions under high pressure situations and excel in problem-solving skills You You love kombucha, have an exceptional work ethic, and communicate effectively with everyone. Job Specifications:
Part Time 8-24 hours per week, occasional overtime and weekends Work to be performed on-site and in-person $20-25/hour The actual rate of pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
