Job Summary

STAGGER COFFEE

is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented, and dependable Coffee Roaster to join our coffee team. The ideal candidate will support the roasting process, monitor roast profiles, maintain consistent coffee quality, assist with equipment and production tasks, and help ensure roasted coffee meets established standards. This position is ideal for someone with an interest in specialty coffee who enjoys working with coffee beans, roasting equipment, quality control, and a hands-on production environment. Key Responsibilities Roast coffee beans according to established roast profiles and quality standards. Operate and monitor commercial coffee roasting equipment safely and efficiently. Measure, weigh, and prepare green coffee beans for roasting. Monitor roast time, temperature, color, aroma, and development throughout the roasting process. Make appropriate adjustments to roasting variables when necessary. Record roast data, batch information, and quality observations accurately. Perform quality checks on roasted coffee and identify inconsistencies or defects. Assist with cupping, tasting, and coffee quality evaluation. Maintain consistent roast profiles and product quality across batches. Package, label, and organize roasted coffee according to production procedures. Clean and maintain roasting equipment, work areas, and production tools. Monitor green coffee and packaging supplies and communicate inventory needs. Follow workplace safety, sanitation, and equipment procedures. Assist with general coffee production and warehouse duties as needed. Work closely with other team members to maintain efficient production. Complete additional roasting and coffee production duties assigned by management. Requirements Previous coffee roasting, coffee production, or specialty coffee experience is preferred. Strong interest in coffee roasting and coffee quality. Basic understanding of roast development and coffee processing. Ability to follow roast profiles, production procedures, and quality standards. Strong attention to detail and consistency. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work efficiently in a hands-on production environment. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic. Ability to safely lift and move moderate loads. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine physical tasks. Willingness to learn new roasting techniques and coffee production procedures. Preferred Skills Specialty coffee roasting experience. Familiarity with commercial coffee roasting equipment. Knowledge of green coffee characteristics and roast development. Experience with cupping and sensory coffee evaluation. Understanding of roast curves, temperature control, and batch consistency. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills. Basic coffee production or packaging experience. Ability to troubleshoot basic roasting or equipment issues. Passion for specialty coffee and continuous quality improvement. $25.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 36.0 per week
