Job Title:
Food Production Technician Job Description This role supports daily bakery production by preparing, baking, and packaging high-quality artisanal products while maintaining strict food safety and quality standards. You will work on the second shift in a fast-paced environment, rotating through various production tasks such as sheeting, cutting, baking, and packaging, and will help ensure that all products meet established recipes, procedures, and consistency expectations. Responsibilities Rotate through key production tasks, including sheeting, cutting, and baking products in accordance with established food safety and quality procedures. Prepare and bake products by following standard recipes and production guidelines to ensure consistency and quality. Measure and mix ingredients accurately to maintain product standards and minimize waste. Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently, following all operating and safety instructions. Assist with shaping, proofing, and baking bread and pastries to meet production schedules. Plan and organize the daily packing schedule to ensure timely completion of packaging tasks. Monitor the storage and availability of packing materials to support continuous production. Complete packing department logs accurately each day, including required verification signatures. Package finished goods for distribution, ensuring correct labeling, portioning, and presentation. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace by following food safety and sanitation guidelines. Monitor product quality and consistency throughout the production process and report any issues promptly. Support inventory control by helping restock ingredients and packaging materials as needed. Follow all company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and safety procedures at all times. Adhere to second shift schedules and work overtime or Saturday hours when required by business needs. Essential Skills Previous bakery, food production, or kitchen experience preferred but not required. Ability to work second shift hours; typical schedules include 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM or 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Ability to work early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed based on business demand. Strong attention to detail and consistency when measuring, mixing, baking, and packaging products. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods in a production environment. Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented approach to work. Basic understanding of food safety standards and practices; ServSafe certification is a plus. Comfort working in a general labor, assembly line, or packing environment with repetitive tasks. Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety protocols. Capability to perform inspection and quality checks on products and packaging. Willingness to follow all safety procedures related to equipment operation and food production. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in artisan bread or pastry production. Familiarity with commercial bakery equipment and production lines. Demonstrated passion for high-quality, handcrafted food products. Experience in foodservice, food production, packaging, cleaning, and food preparation. Comfort working with heavy lifting, inspection tasks, and assembly line workflows. ServSafe or similar food safety certification is beneficial but not required. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a fast-paced bakery production facility with a strong focus on food safety, quality, and efficiency. You will work on the second shift, with typical scheduled hours of 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM for Production Technicians and 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM for Packaging Technicians, Monday through Friday. Overtime and Saturday hours may be required depending on business needs. The environment includes regular exposure to flour, heat, ovens, and bakery equipment, and requires frequent standing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive motions. You will work around commercial bakery machinery and packaging equipment, following established safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices. All second shift positions receive an additional hourly differential, reflecting the schedule and demands of the role. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Petaluma, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.81 - $18.81/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
