Job Description

We have three tiers of Packaging Technicians from filler operator to QA/QC checks to configuring the cases and stacking. Our full-time Packaging Technicians execute the daily shift duties to package in cans and kegs. Top candidates for this position are mechanically-inclined, adaptable, and pursue life-long learning opportunities. We're looking for an individual to join the team to help with our continuous improvement efforts to scale with our rapid growth. We currently brew on a 50 bbl system and package up to 100 bbl per shift.
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in all areas of the packaging process as directed: De-palletizer, filling & seaming, quality checks for leaks, labeling, keg washing, carton/tray forming, carton/case packing and change-overs, and stacking on pallets. Work with and support the Brewing and Packaging Team to execute the planned production schedule Operate packaging machines with Programmable logic controller (PLCs) Collect quality and relevant data to maintain batch records using Google Docs and Microsoft Office software and have the ability to learn new applications as needed Maintain high attention to details during operation of machines and documentation Daily sampling as requested Clean packaging equipment with food grade chemicals Maintain machine and workplace cleanliness and organization Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks - we have a maintenance team for larger upkeep/repairs Maintain a "safety first" attitude to keep the facility clean, safe and well organized which ensures a safe working environment Assist in restocking and organizing the packaging materials Assist in troubleshooting production upsets to escalate critical issues in a timely manner Flexibility with packaging shifts, as they may change depending on planned schedule Operate forklift as needed. We will certify if not trained. Support Sleeping Giant Brewing culture Willingness to work in a flow-to-work team environment Maintain a professional demeanor that holds space for an atmosphere of mutual respect Embrace and promote an atmosphere of continual improvement Maintain a high level of communication both upward and downward in the organization Actively participate in required meetings Physical demands of the job Lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly Maneuver up to 165 lbs Work on feet up to 10 hours Repeated bending, kneeling and crouching Cold, wet, hot and muggy conditions - non-temperature controlled facility Five shifts per week, no overnights. Rotation between AM & PM shift every 4-6 weeks As new opportunities present themselves, additional responsibilities may be assigned
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Additional relevant education/training preferred cGMP manufacturing knowledge and willingness to learn and support operator based maintenance Beverage packaging experience highly desired One year of high-speed machine operation experience desired
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum age of 21 Understanding of or experience with flow, volume control in a food/beverage closed system plant Ability to participate effectively in a team environment and to communicate cross functionally verbally and in writing Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and multitasking skills Be flexible with shifting work schedule

PAY RANGE
