Job Description

We provide training! Objective This position is responsible for performing basic functions in the cellar [If there's still confusion on what the department looks like, please see the Essential Skills and Competences below]. We provide training to get individuals to a spot where they can work independently, but any prior experience with beverage production, chemical handling, manufacturing cleaning processes (SIPs, CIPs) goes a long ways. Insurance Vacation and Sick Time Off Anniversary Recognition Program Employee beer, merchandise, and food discounts. Essential Responsibilities Begin to learn high level tasks. Maintains all quality and safety standards set for beer production at the Oskar Blues facility. Cellar employees will be responsible for yeast and fermentation management, dry hopping, finings, operation of centrifuge, filtering, tank cleaning, and general cleaning duties. The responsibilities of this position have a direct effect on preparing beer for packaging. Transfer or clarify beer via centrifuge or other clarifying agents according to SOP and sanitarily deliver to Bright Beer. Perform lab tests such as yeast cell counts as required and according to SOP. Support packaging team by validating bright beer specs and communicating proactively. Maximize efficiency by maintaining accurate cellar documentation and multi-tasking. Ability to work on a 12-hour, Pitman Continental Schedule. Shifts start at 6 am and 6 pm. This position rotates 4 months of days, followed by 2 months of overnights. Overnight shifts include a $40 per shift differential. Additional Responsibilities Perform facility-specific duties as required or assigned. Requirements Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and ability to multi-task. One (1) year work experience at brewery (or in manufacturing) and/or formal brewery education preferred. Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate willingness to ask questions. Ability to demonstrate responsible and well-informed decision making. Physical & Mental Requirements Must have the physical and mental strength and endurance to be able to perform duties, in at times extreme environments, as well as the ability to handle stressors of the position in operational and administrative situations. Required to frequently lift and move 10-75 pounds. Expected to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, talk, hear, taste, smell, see, and operate objects, tools, and controls. May be required to work weekend and overnight shifts.

Brewery equipment, Pallet Jack, Forklift, Scissor Lift Essential Skills and Competences These skills are necessary for the role of cellar operator: Ensure sanitation : Keep workspaces and equipment free from dirt, infection, and disease by removing waste, trash and providing for appropriate cleaning. Monitor machine operations : Observe machine operations and evaluate product quality thereby ensuring conformity to standards. Disassemble equipment : Disassembles equipment using hand tools in order to clean equipment and to perform regular operational maintenance. Collect samples for analysis : Collect samples of materials or products for laboratory analysis. Prepare containers for beverage fermentation : Prepare containers for beverage fermentation according to the type of beverage to be produced. This includes the qualities that the different kinds of containers can give to the final product. Clean food and beverage machinery : Clean machinery used for food or beverage production processes. Prepare the appropriate solutions for cleaning. Prepare all parts and assure that they are clean enough to avoid deviation or errors in the production process.

Set up machine controls : Set up or adjust machine controls to regulate conditions such as material flow, temperature, or pressure. Follow hygienic procedures during food processing : Ensure a clean working space according to hygienic standards in the food processing industry. Adhere to organizational guidelines : Adhere to organizational or department specific standards and guidelines. Understand the motives of the organization and the common agreements and act accordingly.
