Position Purpose:
This entry level position is a 2-year rotational program, offering two unique 12-month experiences with the opportunity to learn our system, tools and strategies. Upon successful completion of the Associate Program, candidates will have the opportunity to apply to open positions within WinField United. Experience in the rotations will allow Associates to gain knowledge in utilizing the latest agronomic technologies, as well as enable our ag customers to position brands on behalf of WinField United and gain experience building relationships and networks at both levels. Additional opportunities will be offered to gain knowledge in a unique array of strategies to help our entire system succeed within a partnered relationship. Crop Nutrients Associate (Ames, IA): The Associate working with the WinField United Crop Nutrient team will spend half of their role working to understand and report foundational supply & demand signals of a specific macro fertilizer product. Part of the expectation will be to develop and build relationships with high-performing internal staff and key suppliers. This position will be trained to formulate a daily market point of view and be able to challenge and defend others. Additionally, the associate will communicate the risk and opportunities associated with purchasing that commodity to the internal WFU team. The other half of the opportunity will focus on working directly with 3-5 key customers and being the main point of communication with regarding sales, market intel and buying decisions. Experience-Education (Required): Bachelor's degree with graduation date of Dec 2026 or May 2027 Interest in pursuing a future career within the agriculture industry Ability to draw insights from data Willing to travel 20%-50% of the time, which could include nights and weekends Must possess a valid, unrestricted driver's license and have/maintain a satisfactory driving record in order to operate a company-assigned vehicle Must be open to relocation for each rotation assignment Must have successfully completed at least one seasonal internship with Land O'Lakes Competencies-Skills (Required): Make effective decisions and can work independently with limited supervision Interact well with customers, suppliers, employees and management of all levels Ability to solve and resolve issues quickly and in an effective manner Create and present informative and educational product presentations Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong time management skills and detail oriented Frequently move, lift and carry boxes, tubs, and tools weighing 50-60 lbs., access and utilize farm equipment, and move or traverse on uneven ground Willing to work extended hours during peak seasons (overnight travel could be required) Demonstrate the ability to be agile in changing market conditions Salary for this position is $68,000 About Land O'Lakes, Inc.
