We are looking for a passionate and experienced Head Brewer to join our team and grow as a thought leader in the craft beer industry.
Role Overview:
The Head Brewer will be a key leader in our brewing operations, responsible for the entire brewing process from recipe development to fermentation and packaging. This role requires a hands-on approach to brewing, a commitment to quality, and a strong focus on building efficient and effective standard operating procedures (SOPs). The ideal candidate will be a creative recipe writer, detail-oriented in compliance work, and a champion of a positive and collaborative culture both internally and with our external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Brewing Operations:
Oversee and execute all aspects of the brewing process, including milling, mashing, boiling, fermentation, conditioning, and packaging.
Recipe Development:
Lead the creation and refinement of innovative and high-quality beer recipes, ensuring consistency and adherence to brand standards.
SOP Development:
Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all brewing and cellar operations to ensure efficiency, consistency, and safety.
Quality Control & Assurance:
Implement and manage robust quality control measures throughout the brewing process, from raw materials to finished product.
Compliance:
Assist with all necessary compliance work, including TTB reporting, state regulations, and internal safety protocols.
Team Leadership & Culture:
Foster a positive, collaborative, and respectful work environment. Mentor and train brewing staff (to be hired in the future), promoting continuous learning and professional development.
Inventory Management:
Manage raw material and finished goods inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels and minimizing waste.
Equipment Maintenance:
Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of all brewing equipment.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the sales (to be hired), marketing, and taproom teams to ensure alignment on product launches, promotions, and customer experience.
Industry Engagement:
Actively participate in the craft beer community, staying abreast of industry trends, and contributing to hear.say brewing's reputation as a thought leader.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 years of experience in a head brewer or senior brewing role. Proven track record of successful recipe development and scaling. Strong understanding of brewing science, yeast management, and fermentation. Experience with developing and implementing SOPs. Knowledge of relevant brewing regulations and compliance requirements. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment. Passion for craft beer and a desire to contribute to a growing brand.
