We are looking for team members who are passionate about craft beer, love interacting with people, and want to help us deliver an unforgettable taproom experience. Job Description The Head Brewer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of brewery production, quality control, cellar operations, recipe development, packaging, and brewery maintenance. This role combines technical brewing expertise with leadership, inventory management, and collaboration across departments to ensure every beer served meets Half Brothers' standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Brewing & Production Lead brewing operations from grain to glass. Manage production, fermentation, conditioning, carbonation, filtration, and packaging. Monitor fermentation progress and maintain detailed production records. Ensure all brewing processes follow established SOPs and safety standards. Quality Assurance Maintain the highest standards for beer quality and consistency. Perform regular quality control testing and sensory evaluations. Monitor yeast health and propagation practices. Inventory & Purchasing Manage raw material inventory including malt, hops, yeast, chemicals, and packaging supplies. Forecast production needs and place ingredient orders. Equipment & Facility Maintenance Oversee preventative maintenance of brewing equipment. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe brewery environment. Leadership Collaborate with restaurant, taproom, and management teams to align beer production with business goals.
PERFERRED MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
3-5+ years of professional brewing experience. Previous experience operating a commercial brewing system. Strong understanding of brewing science, fermentation, and quality control. Knowledge of brewery sanitation and food safety practices. Ability to lift up to 55 pounds regularly. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Experience with cellar operations and packaging. Familiarity with brewery management software.
