Agronomed has led and sponsored the Drexel University Medical Cannabis research center for the past 6 years, with more than a dozen pilot studies, clinical trials, and an active longitudinal registry study with over 1,000 enrolled patients. With roots in the PA medical cannabis market, AK produces flower, vape, concentrate, and edible products across varied price tiers — targeting the top 10% of quality within lower-priced, mid-range, and high-end offerings in the adult-use NJ market.
CORE VALUES

ROLE OVERVIEW
The ideal candidate for this position has a passion for continual learning, producing the highest quality and consistent products, and looking for incremental ways to improve process and quality — while following the direct lead of the Manager of Extraction and company SOPs. The candidate should be data-driven (KPI related) and receptive to subjective input as market feedback is provided. Taking ownership of work products and leading by example are essential in this hands-on, entrepreneurial operation. This position is responsible for the execution of various extraction functions within the extraction lab, including but not limited to Butane extraction (live and cured), solventless extraction (multi-stage), isolate creation, decarboxylation, and product manufacturing of Liquid Sugar, Live Rosin, Live Resin (all AK vape products
  • and some port to concentrates), other concentrates such as wax, budder, badder, diamonds, sauces, sugar, and hash, as well as future products and any variances thereof.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform extraction of cannabinoids — including THC, THCA, THCV, CBD, CBDA, CBDV, CBN, and CBC — from cannabis plant material using Butane, solventless, and ethanol extraction methods (future stage 2 may include distillate).
  • Conduct pre-run and post-run equipment checks and document results in the appropriate log.
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain all extraction and post-processing equipment, work surfaces, laboratory facilities, and storerooms, keeping testing, maintenance, and cleaning logs current and preventive maintenance schedules on track.
  • Have full working knowledge of how to operate, maintain, and repair laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain all regulatory systems (METRC) and internal production logs and record books.
  • Report deviations, equipment malfunctions, and process irregularities to the Manager of Extraction immediately.
  • Stage incoming plant material, coordinate handoff from cultivation to extraction, and support waste handling and disposal in compliance with state regulations and internal SOPs.
  • Follow and ensure the team follows written SOPs for all activities.
  • Continually work with management to develop and validate optimal techniques for existing products and support senior and operational management as new products are introduced.
  • Update and develop SOPs in real time through the management review process (multi-signoff), publish approved revisions to CRC, and work with management to review and refine all product SOPs no less than quarterly to ensure incremental changes are captured.
  • Train new hires and team members in extraction equipment operation and post-processing procedures, including concentrates, vape products, hash, and any other product AK develops or releases.
  • Work with the cultivation side of the operation to guide optimal plant materials for extraction.
  • Maintain production and inventory records of plant materials, chemicals, and equipment while working with procurement and the Extraction Manager to keep all supplies — including consumables, PPE, and solvents — stocked with awareness of lead times.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all department chemicals and guide team members on safe handling procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree or related work experience required.
  • 1-2 years of experience with extraction in the cannabis industry or equivalent.
  • Self-motivated with a sense of urgency; ability to work independently, under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and PC skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to audit and correct errors.
  • Ability to instill trust and to resolve unexpected issues quickly.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds from floor to table.
  • Familiarity with METRC or equivalent seed-to-sale tracking systems preferred.
  • Experience in an entrepreneurial environment considered a plus.
