Job Description

Assistant Brewer/DistillerTumbleroot Brewery & Distillery —
Santa Fe, New MexicoPosition Overview:
Tumbleroot Brewery & Distillery is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Assistant Brewer/Distiller to join our production team. This is an entry-level position working under the supervision of the Head Brewer/Distiller and the Manager of Production.6 The Assistant Brewer/Distiller will support the production of beer and spirits through equipment preparation, ingredient handling, cleaning and sanitation, fermentation monitoring, packaging, recordkeeping, and general production support. The Assistant Brewer/Distiller will also be responsible for delivering product to our locations as well as wholesale accounts. The Assistant Brewer/Distiller will also provide support for offsite events. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in keeping an organized and sanitary workspace, and is interested in developing a career in brewery and distillery production. Previous professional brewing or distilling experience is helpful but not required. Must have a valid drivers license, the ability to obtain a NM Alcohol Server's License, and must be able to work Saturdays.
Schedule:
This position generally requires 30-40 hours per week , 4-5 days per week, Monday through Saturday, primarily between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Production needs may occasionally require an earlier start, later finish, or schedule adjustment. Flexibility is available, but applicants should have availability every week.
Compensation:
Hourly pay is based on relevant experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
Assist with beer and spirits production under the direction of the Head Brewer/Distiller and Manager of Production. Prepare ingredients, equipment, tanks, hoses, and production areas. Assist with brewing, fermentation, transfers, cellar work, distilling, and packaging. Clean and sanitize tanks, kegs, equipment, tools, floors, and production areas. Monitor and document production information, including ingredients, temperatures, times, gravity readings, and other process data. Assist with basic quality-control procedures and product evaluations. Operate production and packaging equipment safely and according to established procedures. Help receive, organize, and maintain inventories of ingredients, packaging materials, and production supplies. Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns. Follow all company procedures related to sanitation, chemical handling, workplace safety, and product quality. Assist with product development and production trials as assigned. Drive delivery vehicle within greater Santa Fe/Albuquerque region. Assist in organization and implementation of offsite events. Perform other brewery and distillery production duties as needed.
Training and Development:
The selected candidate will receive hands-on training in areas that may include: Brewery and distillery production procedures Equipment operation and ingredient handling Cleaning, sanitation, and chemical safety Draft system cleaning and maintenance Fermentation and cellar operations Packaging and inventory procedures Production recordkeeping Quality-control practices Workplace health and safety Employees who demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, technical ability, and initiative may have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and advance within Tumbleroot's production department.
Qualifications:
