Job Description
Steelbound Brewery & Distillery is a destination brewery, distillery, and restaurant in Ellicottville, NY, focused on handcrafted beer, spirits, and a welcoming, "sense of home" guest experience. We are looking for a hands-on Brewer to join our production team and learn the craft from grain to glass in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. What You'll Do
Brewhouse & Production Operations:
Manage all stages of brewing, including grain handling, mashing, boiling, fermentation, cellaring, filtration, and packaging (kegging, canning, or bottling).Recipe Development & Innovation:
Create, scale, and refine flagship, seasonal, and experimental recipes while maintaining batch-to-batch consistency.Quality Assurance & Control:
Enforce strict hygiene, cleaning-in-place (CIP), and sanitation protocols. Perform sensor analysis and laboratory tests (gravity, pH, yeast counts, oxygen levels) to maintain product integrity.Inventory & Supply Chain:
Monitor raw material inventory (hops, grain, yeast, chemicals) and packaging supplies. Source ingredients, negotiate supplier pricing, and place timely orders to support production schedules.Team Leadership & Management:
Hire, train, schedule, and supervise assistant brewers and cellar staff. Foster a collaborative, safety-first work environment.Maintenance & Facilities:
Perform routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on brewhouse machinery, pumps, glycol systems, boilers, and packaging equipment.Compliance & Record-Keeping:
Maintain meticulous production logs, TTB/state regulatory documentation, tax reporting records, and safety/OSHA standards.
Brand Representation:
Collaborate with marketing and sales teams on new releases, events, and festival presence. Participate in taproom customer engagements or media appearances as needed. What We're Looking For Strong interest in craft beer, spirits, and learning the brewing/distilling environment; prior homebrewing or production experience is a plus. Able to regularly lift 50-55 lbs, move kegs, climb stairs, and work on your feet in hot, cold, and wet conditions. Detail oriented, reliable, and able to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain accurate logs. Team player with a positive attitude who communicates well and takes pride in cleanliness and quality. Must be 21+ and available for a flexible schedule including some early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on production needs. Valid drivers license and clean (or acceptable) driving record.
