We're hiring a Grain Originator Intern in Mitchell, SD! This hands-on internship offers the chance to work closely with our full-time Grain Originator, engaging with local producers to secure grain and develop effective marketing strategies. The internship can start as early as Spring 2027, depending on business needs and your availability, and extend through the summer. Responsibilities Responsibilities Gain knowledge of general agronomy skills such as scouting, crop protection products, crop nutrient products, seed, custom application procedures, mixing procedures, truck driving, and delivering product. Perform all agronomy/seed operations. Monitor and maintain quality of inventory. Regulate and periodic housecleaning processes and record keeping. Assist with repairs and preventative maintenance for all agronomy equipment including legs, conveyors, towers, vehicles, sprayers, floaters, trucks, etc. Provide excellent customer service and assist customers as needed. Work in and keep an environment that is compliant with state, local, and CHS Environmental and Safety policy. Minimum Qualifications (required) Learn and assist with grain origination: procure grain from local producers and call on new accounts. Learn and observe working with producers, updating them on market trends, current grain quotes, grain programs, and forming marketing plans. Assist with reporting and typing all purchasing contracts quickly & accurately. Assist Grain Originator with rail billing and grain sales settlements as needed. Partner with the elevator and office staff in the exchange of information to enhance the flow of grain. Provide excellent customer service and work well with patrons in a courteous and professional manner. Other duties as assigned. Additional Qualifications Currently enrolled in Ag Business, Crop Science, or other Agriculture related degree program Physical Requirements Agriculture/crop/grain experience or background knowledge very helpful. Previous internship experience helpful, but not required. CHS offers a competitive total rewards package.
