Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSEGain exposure to many facets of the dairy industry, focusing on quality assurance, safety, operations and/ormaintenance depending on the field of studies for the student intern and needs at the facility.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform short projects (weight checks, analyze efficiencies, process identification) and work on database set upand structuring (preventative maintenance, pallet tracking, butterfat tests)
- Assist in preparation of audits (SQF, regulatory, organic) and work in different areas in the plant in order to gainfamiliarity with process flow
- Work with pasteurizing, separating, freezing, cooling, filling, mixing, standardizing, packaging and storingoperations of milk, ice cream and cultured products
- Assist in compilation and analysis of production and cost data required for company or government reporting
- Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately
- Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regardinghealth and safety issues
- Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporateregulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Production or general work experienced preferred
- Certification and/or License - may be required during course of employment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Able to follow directions and carry out instructions
- Able to effectively work in a team environment
- Able to legibly write entries for record keeping
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, anddecimals
