Job Description
Tasting Room Employee Job Description Position Summary:
- Greet all visitors to English Newsom Cellars and pour wines for tasting.
- Converse with customers on the wine and wine / food pairings
- Create a memorable experience for the customer
- Describe and answer questions regarding our wines, merchandise, history and facility.
- Handle sales transactions, cash register and accounting of daily sales
- Answer phone and take phone orders , answer questions and give directions to the winery.
- Pack wine orders for shipment
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness of winery
- Assist with events as needed
- Represent English Newsom Cellars at outside functions as needed
- Acquire and maintain thorough wine knowledge
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- Weekend work is required
- Maintenance of bar including washing glasses and organizing supplies
- Prepare food for guests and follow food handling guidelines
- Label all food with expiration labels
- Complete duties from Opening / Closing Cleaning Checklist.
Responsibilities include facility housekeeping:
tasting room, restrooms, patio, windows, kitchen, floors, trash, dusting etc.- Meetings and trainings are mandatory and will be scheduled based on business needs
- Work in a team environment and perform duties assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Wine related experience helpful
- Knowledge of wine and wine production
- Commitment to excellence and high standards
- Proficient on the computer and POS system
- Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
- Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Willingness to work with constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to bend, squat, climb, push, stoop and crouch repeatedly.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
