Job Description
Job Overview The Pocket is an established upscale neighborhood restaurant in Carmel-by-the-Sea seeking a warm, professional, and hospitality-driven Maître d' to become the face of our dining room. This role is focused on creating memorable guest experiences, managing reservations, and ensuring smooth flow throughout service. This is not a restaurant management position and does not involve supervising staff outside of the host position. This position receives tips as well as the stated hourly range. Responsibilities Welcome guests and provide gracious, attentive hospitality Manage reservations and table assignments Coordinate the flow of service with the dining room team Cultivate relationships with regular guests and VIPs Handle special requests and guest concerns with professionalism and poise Maintain accurate reservation notes and guest preferences Assist with various administrative and hospitality-related tasks as needed Qualifications Proven experience in an upscale restaurant setting is required Strong background in food service, customer service, and restaurant operations Experience with reservation and POS platforms Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills Professional appearance and demeanor Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment Genuine enjoyment of working with people and creating memorable experiences The ideal candidate is naturally welcoming, polished, and personable.
