GED Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Host-Emergency Department greets each patient, visitor or guest. Uses GRETE principles when welcoming them to the hospital with enthusiasm and professionalism. Ascertains the customers needs and answers any questions in a professional and courteous manner. Provides information about the facility and answers any questions. Provides support and emotional comfort to families experiencing crisis. Assists patients and visitors by directing or escorting them to their correct destination. Controls patient and/or visitor passage into the Emergency Department. Acts as customer service liaison between Security, Registration, nursing staff, family and visitors. Resolves complaints and answers questions regarding services and procedures. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals, including the Adult and Children's Emergency Departments. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum one year of experience in public, guest relations or customer service required.
Knowledge and Skills:
Read, write legibly, and speak clearly in English (bilingual preferred) with professional quality, push/pull wheelchairs; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e. g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
