Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a friendly, organized, and proactive Host/Hostess/Lead Host to be the first and last impression of our restaurant. Your primary goal is to greet every guest with respect, set a welcoming environment, and ensure smooth seating while maintaining overall restaurant cleanliness—including the host station, storefront, patio, and restrooms. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Greet guests warmly as they enter, manage the waitlist, and seat guests while balancing table rotation for servers. Organize reservations from different platforms (email, Resy, etc.) into OpenTable. Provide menus, answer initial menu questions, and engage with guests to ensure they are happy with food and service. Answer phone calls, take reservations, process to-go orders, and handle delivery apps (Grubhub, DoorDash, Postmates, etc.). Respond to guest concerns and help resolve complaints professionally. Assist with other front-of-house positions (e.g., bussing tables) as needed. Attend and participate in pre-shift meetings and ongoing service training.
Cleaning & Maintenance Duties Host Station:
Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked host station each shift (clean menus, empty trash, restock supplies, including West Entrance Host Station).
Store Front Windows & Doors:
Clean interior and exterior of store front windows and doors as needed to maintain a polished entrance.
Display Marketing/Promotion Materials:
Set up, maintain, and rotate promotional signage, flyers, or marketing materials in the store front area to ensure they are clean, visible, and up to date.
Patio:
Sweep, wipe down, and keep the outdoor patio area clean; ensure the outside fountain and plants are clean and the fountain is working properly.
Restrooms:
Check restrooms at least every 15 minutes, before opening, and after closing; clean and restock as needed. Leave the outside of the restaurant clean and presentable at all times. Qualifications Previous restaurant experience preferred but not required. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods as needed, with duration varying depending on business volume. Able to safely lift and carry up to 20-25 lbs (trays, supplies). Food Handler certification (if required by local regulations). Familiarity with Toast, OpenTable, and/or Resy is a plus. Physical Demands Frequent use of hands/fingers; occasional standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Must be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Vision abilities:
close, distance, peripheral, and focus adjustment.
Noise level:
moderate to high. Safety equipment (glasses, hearing protection, boots, hardhats) required where applicable. No loose-fitting clothes or jewelry.
