Nagi combines the energy of an authentic Japanese izakaya, a precision sushi bar, and an intimate Japanese whiskey lounge. We deliver high-energy yet polished service in a sophisticated, design-forward space. Position Summary As the first and last point of contact for Nagi, our Hosts set the tone for the entire guest experience. We are seeking charming, organized, and poised individuals to join our opening team. You will manage table flow, curate the dining room atmosphere, and deliver a warm, sophisticated welcome that reflects our commitment to exceptional hospitality.
Key Responsibilities First Impressions & Welcome:
Greet arriving guests with warmth, grace, and professionalism, setting an immediate tone of refined hospitality.
Seating & Flow Management:
Orchestrate floor seatings, control pacing between the dining room, sushi bar, and whiskey lounge, and manage reservation software to maximize capacity and minimize wait times.
Reservation & Guest Relations:
Manage phone inquiries, take reservations, accommodate special requests, and track guest preferences to deliver personalized service.
Opening Runway Preparation:
Participate in venue setup, pre-opening flow simulations, and training sessions on floor plan mechanics during the 30-day countdown to launch.
Farewell & Lounge Direction:
Ensure smooth transitions for guests moving between the dining space and the whiskey lounge, and offer a gracious, lasting farewell as guests depart.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
1+ years of host or front-of-house experience in an upscale, high-volume, or fine dining restaurant.
System Proficiency:
Familiarity with reservation platforms (e.g., OpenTable, Resy, SevenRooms) is preferred.
Poise & Multitasking:
Ability to remain calm, composed, and efficient under pressure during peak dining hours.
Communication & Appearance:
Flawless verbal communication, impeccable personal grooming, and a professional, welcoming presence.
Availability:
Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and attendance at all pre-opening training sessions. What We Offer Competitive hourly rate in a high-profile, upscale downtown launch.
