Host Job Description Position Overview:
As the first and last point of contact for guests, the host plays a vital role in shaping the guest experience. The host is responsible for creating an inviting and organized environment, managing seating flow, and ensuring exceptional hospitality from the moment guests arrive to when they leave. A successful host embodies teamwork, communication, and a guest-first mindset, contributing to the smooth operation of the restaurant.
First Impressions:
Greet guests warmly with a smile and eye contact within moments of their arrival. Maintain a clean and organized host stand, ensuring it reflects the professionalism of the restaurant. Collect names and phone numbers for all walk-in guests and populate them on restaurants reservation system Communicate seating flow and table status with floor managers and servers. Monitor ticket times and adjust seating flow as necessary, especially during peak hours. Keep the floor chart updated and proactively track table availability. Notify managers of any VIP guests, special occasions, or notable reservations. Escort guests to their tables, allowing them to set the walking pace. Ensure the table is clean, set, and ready for the party before seating. Provide guests with menus, presenting the cocktails section first, and introduce their server by name. For larger parties, ensure appropriate server assignments and communicate any special needs. Record guest details on the waitlist, including name, party size, seating preference, and a personal detail for identification. Communicate updates to waiting guests and ensure their comfort during the wait. During downtime, assist servers by resetting and watering tables. Provide accurate information about the restaurant, nearby attractions, and parking options. Thank guests warmly and encourage them to return. Open doors for departing guests and assist with any special needs. Confirm the table is bussed, clean, and ready for the next seating. Assign tables to servers using the rotation chart to ensure even distribution. Avoid double seating the same section and adjust rotation based on server readiness. Use OpenTable for managing reservations and maintaining the guest book. Record notes on guest preferences, dietary restrictions, and special occasions. Provide printed chits for servers to highlight critical guest details. Attend all pre-shift meetings on time, actively engaging in discussions and taking detailed notes. Arrive well-groomed and adhere to Chicheria Mexican Kitchen's dress code for a polished and professional appearance. Must have reliable transportation. Must be able to work weekend brunch, shifts, week and weekend dinner shifts Must be able to work doubles from time to time. Be on time for all scheduled shifts, prepared to provide seamless service from the start. Participate in ongoing training, testing, and development to stay aligned with Chicheria Mexican Kitchen's evolving standards and offerings.

$15.00 - $16.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 35.0 per week
