Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description Duties:
Under the supervision of the Chief Naturalist, the Nature Center Host is responsible for: Manage visitor experience by answering questions, handing out maps, and facilitating interactions with museum displays and education animals. Answer phones and electronic communications. Maintain cleanliness of the museum and gift shop. Take reservations and registrations for programming and rentals. Handle cash in a retail setting. Create displays and contributing to publications. Assist with special events, rentals, and programming as needed. Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed; support all aspects of the Park District's safety program. All other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions :
The work requires some physical exertion in handling supplies, equipment, and materials. Prolonged standing, bending, and stooping, and ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required on a periodic basis. The programmed activities involve everyday risks, which require normal safety precautions typical of the recreation industry.
Education :
Associates degree in environmental science, education, business, or related field preferred. Relevant experience will be considered as a substitute for education.
Experience :
Background or interest in natural history.
Knowledge and Abilities :
Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers. Retail/cash handling experience. Ability to use computer systems such as Microsoft Office and registration software. Customer service experience. Must possess a valid driver's license.
