Job Description
At Joelle's Soul & Savour Restaurant, our hosts and hostesses are the first impression of our restaurant and play an essential role in creating a warm, welcoming, and memorable experience for every guest. We are seeking individuals who are professional, personable, organized, and passionate about hospitality. The ideal candidate will embody our commitment to exceptional service while ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience from arrival to departure. Position Summary The Host/Hostess serves as the face of Joelle's Soul & Savour Restaurant by greeting guests, managing reservations and waitlists, coordinating seating arrangements, and supporting the overall flow of restaurant operations. This role requires excellent communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive and welcoming atmosphere. Essential Responsibilities Guest Reception & Hospitality Greet all guests warmly and professionally upon arrival. Create a welcoming and inviting atmosphere that reflects the values and culture of Joelle's Soul & Savour Restaurant. Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a friendly and positive demeanor. Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return. Reservation & Waitlist Management Manage reservations and seating assignments efficiently. Maintain accurate waitlists during peak dining hours. Communicate realistic wait times and keep guests informed of seating updates. Coordinate seating arrangements to maximize guest comfort and operational efficiency. Seating & Dining Room Coordination Escort guests to their tables and provide menus. Accommodate special seating requests whenever possible. Monitor dining room activity to ensure balanced server sections and smooth table turnover. Coordinate with servers and management regarding large parties, reservations, and special accommodations. Communication & Guest Assistance Answer incoming phone calls professionally and accurately. Provide information regarding restaurant hours, menu offerings, specials, and reservation availability. Assist guests with questions, concerns, or special requests. Communicate effectively with management and team members to ensure seamless service. Cleanliness & Organization Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming host stand and entrance area. Ensure waiting areas, menus, and guest-facing spaces remain neat and presentable. Assist with light cleaning duties as needed to maintain restaurant appearance standards. Monitor restroom and lobby conditions and report any concerns promptly. Guest Relations & Problem Resolution Address guest concerns professionally and courteously. Assist in resolving service issues while maintaining a positive dining experience. Support team members during busy periods to ensure guest satisfaction remains a top priority. Additional Responsibilities Assist with to-go orders and phone inquiries when needed. Support front-of-house operations by helping reset tables and maintain dining room readiness. Assist with special events, private dining functions, and promotional activities. Provide support to restaurant staff to ensure efficient daily operations. Qualifications & Skills Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong communication and organizational abilities. Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Professional appearance and demeanor. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented. Previous restaurant or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
