Job Description
Job SummaryAs a Host, you are the first point of contact for all guests starting their dining experience at our casual dining style restaurant. Your goal is to set the tone for the guests from the moment they enter. This is a seasonal, hourly position and includes an option for employee housing for the duration of employment.
ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate the stamina to work long hours in a fast-paced service environmentWelcome guests to the establishment and provide accurate wait timesAcknowledge guests upon their departureBe in frequent communication with Back of House supervisor and teamDemonstrate the ability to problem solve independently or in collaboration with your team and/or supervisorRecognize and assist guests that require extra attentionManagement of reservationsEscort guests to assigned seating or bar area, provide menus and servers nameMaintain a clean reception areaWrite on Daily specials board after consulting withBOHCoordinate with staff about available seating options and designate sections prior to serviceAssist Servers with bussing, cocktailing, and food deliveryMonitors wait listsManage phone for to-go orders and call-insOther duties as assigned CompetenciesEffective CommunicationAdaptagilityClient FocusInitiativeAttention to DetailProfessionalismEducationHigh School (High school diploma) or GED Working ConditionsAbility to work outdoors for long periods of time, including during extreme heat and cold or weather eventsAbility to lift 30lbs independently; all lifts over 51 lbs. require assistance from a co-workerAble to stand and move for long periods of time Preferred QualificationsPrevious work experience as a Host/Hostess/ServerUnderstanding of table side serviceFood Knowledge preferred but not requiredCustomer Service skills requiredStrong organizational and Communication skills keeping the dining room and bar fluidFood Handler (ServSafe) Certification and TIPS certification Must be obtained by property opening date or before starting any work involving food or alcohol handlingAdditional InformationThis position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment, when applicable.
This position requires that the individual is able to lift a minimum of 45lbs independently.
Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking, standing, bending, twisting, lifting, and maneuvering in an outdoor environment on uneven surfaces.
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, snow, humidity, and wind. This position is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background check and/or motor vehicle records check, if requested by Under Canvas.
