Job Description
Host / Hostess - Restaurant Join the team at Byrncliff Golf Resort & Banquets! We are looking for a friendly, dependable, and organized Host/Hostess to welcome guests to our restaurant and help create a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive. The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting and seating guests, managing reservations and the flow of the dining room, assisting with takeout orders, and supporting the front-of-house team during busy service periods. Responsibilities Greet every guest promptly and provide a friendly, welcoming first impression Manage reservations, walk-in guests, wait times, and the restaurant seating flow Seat guests appropriately while maintaining balanced server sections Answer the restaurant phone and assist guests with general questions and reservation requests Assist with taking, processing, organizing, and distributing takeout orders Assist with expediting food from the kitchen, including organizing completed orders and helping ensure food is delivered promptly and accurately Communicate clearly with kitchen staff, servers, bartenders, managers, and other team members regarding guest and service needs Keep the host station, entrance, and surrounding areas clean and organized Assist with setting, clearing, and resetting tables as needed Help accommodate large parties and special seating requests Assist servers during busy periods as needed Train and oversee bussing staff Respond professionally to guest questions or concerns and involve a manager when appropriate Accurately process guest transactions and handle cash when assigned Maintain a professional, positive attitude in a fast-paced environment Perform other front-of-house duties as needed to support restaurant operations Qualifications Previous restaurant, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate Friendly, professional, and comfortable interacting with guests Dependable and able to work as part of a team Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to remain calm and organized during busy service periods Comfortable learning and using restaurant POS and reservation systems Must be able to stand and remain on your feet for the majority of the shift Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with people, takes initiative, communicates well with coworkers, and is willing to step in wherever needed to help service run smoothly. Previous experience is helpful, but a positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn are most important.
