Responsibilities:
Guest Assistance:
Welcome guests with a warm and friendly demeanor as they enter the restaurant. Provide a positive first impression and set the tone for the overall dining experience. Assist guests with inquiries, provide information about the menu, specials, and restaurant policies. Address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly. Be attentive to the needs of guests, including any special requests or accommodations. Handle seating for large parties and special events with care and efficiency.
Reservation Management:
Manage restaurant reservations, including confirming, modifying, or canceling bookings. Maintain an organized reservation system and communicate reservation status to the serving staff. Assess the dining room layout and manage efficient seating assignments to optimize table turnover. Consider server sections and balance workload among the serving staff.
Waiting Area Management:
Keep the waiting area clean, organized, and visually appealing. Provide waiting guests with accurate wait time estimates and, if necessary, offer alternatives such as seating at the bar. Ensure that the host/hostess stand and surrounding areas are neat, organized, and well-maintained. Pay attention to the overall cleanliness and appearance of the dining area.
Communication Liaison:
Maintain effective communication with the kitchen, serving staff, and management to ensure smooth dining room operations. Relay special requests, dietary restrictions, or other pertinent information to the serving team. Collaborate with servers to coordinate the timing of reservations and walk-in guests. Facilitate effective communication between the front and back of the house. Requirements Previous experience as a host/hostess or in customer service is beneficial. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Professional and positive attitude. Familiarity with reservation systems and basic computer skills. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
