Virtue Feed & Grain, located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, is a celebrated American tavern housed in a historic 1800s feed and grain warehouse. Our two-story restaurant and bar offer a rustic yet elegant atmosphere with exposed wood accents, serving an eclectic menu of locally sourced dishes. We are renowned for our extensive selection of over 390 whiskeys, craft cocktails, and a variety of beers and wines. Our seasonal outdoor patio provides guests with views of the Potomac River, making it a popular destination for both locals and visitors. In 2024, we were honored to be named one of America's Top Whiskey Bars by Whisky Advocate. Key Responsibilities Greet guests warmly upon arrival and manage seating to ensure minimal wait times Manage reservations and waitlists using POS systems (OpenTable) Provide menus, answer initial guest questions, and assist with special requests Maintain a clean, organized, and professional host stand Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management to support smooth service Answer phone calls professionally and provide accurate information about reservations and policies Assist with guest inquiries, concerns, or special needs to ensure satisfaction Support overall guest experience by demonstrating excellent hospitality and guest relations Qualifications Previous host/hostess or food service experience preferred, but not required Strong customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor Excellent verbal communication and phone etiquette Familiarity with POS systems (OpenTable) is a plus Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment Professional appearance and positive attitude Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays If you're a hospitality professional who loves making connections and ensuring guests have a great time, we want to meet you!
