Responsibilities The Lodging department is committed to creating a culture of guest service at Grand Canyon National Park. All our roles in the lodging department, regardless of front or back of house, are considered guest-facing/guest service positions. Our expectation is that this role will play a key part in achieving exceptional guest service. Follow established front desk procedures in carrying out of duties. Follow Xanterra security policies and procedures in the handling and divulging of all company and guest information. Handle guest accounts properly including posting of charges, and collection of payment. Maintain strict guest security in controlling keys and issuing keys. Complete shift duties as directed by supervisor. Deliver exceptional guest service by assisting guests of Grand Canyon National Park lodges with efficient and professional check-in and check-out services utilizing the Opera Property Management System. Provide property and park information to guests both proactively and on request. Handle guest complaints to the degree possible and involve the supervisor in the handling of guest complaints as necessary. Assist in supporting efficient and timely guest communication at the Front Desk, via telephone, and through Canary messaging platform. Work closely with Unit Housekeeping department to keep room status up to date. Work with Bell Staff to assist guests as needed. Follow all policy and procedures in regard to accounting procedures for Cash Handling, transactions and shift end. Ensure working bank accuracy and security at all times while conforming to PCI policies. Use all company property in a work-related capacity, i.e., telephones, computers, printers, etc. Complete duties and shifts at other lodges on a regularly scheduled basis to stay informed about all lodges and procedures. Adhere to all Xanterra South Rim and NPS Lost and Found procedures. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous public contact work experience. Professionally and courteously interaction with a broad cross-section of diverse guests and employees. Experience with computers and Windows type software. Ability to properly handle and secure cash and credit cards. Excellent verbal communication skills. Physically able to stand for an 8-hour shift at the front desk. Qualified candidates will be required to achieve a successful score on a test regarding customer service and math skills.
