Registers guests and assigns rooms. Accommodates special requests whenever possible. 2. Assist in pre-registration and blocking of rooms for reservations. 3. Thoroughly understand and adheres to proper credit, check-cashing, and cash handling policies and procedures. 4. Understands room status and room status tracking. 5. Must be sales-minded. Presents options and alternatives to guests and offer assistance in making choices. 6. Uses suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel. 7. Knows the location and types of available rooms as well as the activities and services of the property. 8. Coordinates room status updates with the housekeeping department by notification housekeeping of all check outs, late checkouts, early check-ins, special requests, and day use rooms. 9. Possesses a working knowledge of the reservations department. Takes same day reservations and future reservations when necessary. Knows cancellation procedures. 10. Maintains guest room key storage, and maintains and supervises access to safe deposit boxes. 11. Knows how to use front office equipment. 12. Follows procedures for issuing and closing safe deposit boxes used by guests. 13. Works closely with the housekeeping department in the keeping room status reports up to date and coordinates requests for maintenance and repair work. 14. Uses proper telephone etiquette. 15. Uses proper mail, package, and message handling procedures. 16. Reads and initials the pass-on log and bulletin board daily. Is aware of daily activities and meetings taking place in the hotel. 17. Attends department meetings. 18. Reports any unusual occurrences or requests to the manager or assistant manager. 19. Knows all safety and emergency procedures, Is aware of accident prevention policies. 20. Maintains the cleanliness and neatness of the front desk area. 21. Follow daily task on each shift report checklist
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk, sit, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; kneel or crouch; talk or hear for prolonged periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to perform 10% sedentary work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force regularly and exerting negligible force frequently or constantly to move objects, including the body. May be asked to exert up to 45 pounds force periodically as needed. The employee must exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Must carry out duties using proper equipment. The employee frequently is exposed to hot and cold temperatures. High pressured, fast-paced environment with a high degree of self-management and team involvement. Handling a large number of multiple steps in a complex system performed with accuracy and speed is essential to the successful completion of tasks. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
