Job Description
Swing Shift / Night Audit Hotel Desk Clerk Red Lion Inn & Suites Ontario is looking for a dependable, professional, and guest-focused Swing Shift / Night Audit Desk Clerk to join our team. This position is responsible for providing excellent guest service during the evening and overnight hours while ensuring front desk operations, reservations, payments, and night audit procedures are completed accurately. The ideal candidate is reliable, comfortable working independently, detail-oriented, and able to handle guest needs and unexpected situations calmly and professionally. Schedule Swing Shift and Night Shift Evening, overnight, weekends, and holidays as scheduled Must be dependable and available for scheduled shifts Ability to work independently during overnight hours is required Responsibilities Guest Service & Front Desk Greet and assist guests in a friendly and professional manner. Complete guest check-ins and check-outs accurately. Verify guest identification and reservation information. Process payments and authorize credit/debit cards according to hotel procedures. Assist guests with questions, requests, room issues, and general hotel information. Answer incoming phone calls and assist with reservations. Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to management when necessary. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk area. Reservations & PMS Manage reservations, arrivals, departures, cancellations, and room assignments. Verify reservation details, rates, payment information, and special requests. Follow hotel procedures for prepaid reservations, virtual credit cards, deposits, incidental authorizations, and direct-bill accounts. Accurately enter and update guest information in the hotel PMS. Monitor room availability and communicate any inventory or reservation issues to management. Night Audit Complete the nightly audit accurately and on schedule. Verify room revenue, taxes, payments, adjustments, and other daily transactions. Review reports for discrepancies and notify management of any issues. Ensure all required daily procedures are completed before closing the business day. Prepare and organize required night audit paperwork and reports. Monitor arrivals, departures, no-shows, cancellations, and remaining room inventory. Ensure the system is balanced and ready for the morning shift. Hotel Operations & Security Monitor the property during overnight hours and report suspicious activity or maintenance concerns. Follow all hotel safety, security, cash-handling, and emergency procedures. Complete required front desk and property checks. Communicate important guest, maintenance, reservation, and operational issues to the incoming shift. Follow all hotel policies and management instructions. Qualifications Previous hotel, front desk, customer service, or night audit experience preferred. Must be at least 21 years old. Strong communication and customer service skills. Basic computer skills and ability to learn hotel PMS systems. Strong attention to detail and accuracy with money and transactions. Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with difficult situations. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Reliable attendance and punctuality are required. Must be willing to work evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is dependable, honest, professional, and takes pride in their work. The front desk is the first and last impression our guests have of the hotel, so excellent customer service and a positive attitude are extremely important. The successful candidate must be able to follow procedures, communicate effectively with management and other employees, and take responsibility for completing their assigned duties correctly. Previous hotel experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
