The ideal candidate is skilled at fostering a high level of customer service among staff and ensuring all operating procedures are followed to the letter. Job Summary The Motel Manager will oversee all aspects of our motel's operations with a focus on efficiency, guest satisfaction, and profitability. This role involves hiring and training a qualified team, adhering to established operating policies, achieving budgetary goals, and maintaining high ethical and quality standards. The manager will serve as the key point of contact for guests, potential guests, and community leaders, ensuring a positive reputation and excellent working relationships across all departments.
Key Responsibilities Operational Oversight:
Supervise daily operations, ensuring excellence in guest and employee satisfaction, human resources, financial performance, and revenue generation. Oversee housekeeping operations, including room inspections and adherence to cleaning protocols. Conduct daily audits of the booking system to process deposits, balance guest accounts, and charge upcoming guests. Prepare and file all necessary documentation for guest check-ins, check-outs, and staff records.
Guest & Partner Relations:
Engage with guests in-person and via our OTA partners (Booking.com, Expedia, and Airbnb) on a daily basis. Respond promptly to guest reviews, complaints, and special requests. Welcome and register guests, ensuring they receive a warm and professional greeting.
Team Management & Development:
Recruit, interview, hire, train, and if necessary, terminate staff. Develop and manage schedules for front desk and housekeeping teams, and prepare labor reports. Monitor staff performance and foster team engagement, communication, and ongoing professional development. Create a positive, enjoyable, and safe work environment.
Financial & Administrative Duties:
Monitor statistical and financial records; prepare comprehensive reports on motel performance. Oversee and manage expenses, inventory, and payroll. Assist in developing the annual marketing plan and execute strategies to boost occupancy and revenue. Plan and implement marketing campaigns to enhance the motel's visibility and profitability.
Property & Safety Management:
Coordinate maintenance requests by documenting and submitting them to the property management team. Safeguard the motel and its assets by enforcing security measures, preventative maintenance, and safety protocols. Conduct regular inspections of the grounds, public areas, and guest rooms to ensure cleanliness and appearance. Ensure compliance with all safety standards, rules, and regulations. Stay informed about industry trends and the competitive landscape.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned to support overall motel operations.
Required Qualifications Education:
BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Word (minimum 2 years' experience) Proficient in Microsoft Excel (minimum 2 years' experience)
Industry Experience:
Minimum of 3 years managing a motel or similar hospitality establishment.
