This position ensures that all systems and equipment are functioning efficiently, providing a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff. The Chief Engineer will lead a team of maintenance personnel, manage projects, and implement preventative maintenance programs to enhance the hotel's operational performance. Duties Oversee the daily operations of the engineering department, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards. Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues related to mechanical systems and equipment. Maintenance and preventative maintenance of the hotel interior and exterior Develop and maintain schematics for various systems to facilitate efficient repairs and upgrades. Implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime of critical systems. Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations during events or high occupancy periods. Train and mentor engineering staff on best practices in maintenance and safety protocols. Reviews work orders to prioritize and schedule work Service the hotel pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters Complete maintenance logs Perform repair work such as: painting, drywall, plumbing, HVACs, and minor electrical work Qualifications Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in hotel or facility management preferred. At least 3 years in a management role in a hotel, apartments, assisted living, etc. environment is preferred, but not necessary​ Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, pool, HVACs Strong analytical skills Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure. Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams effectively. A relevant qualification in engineering or a related field is advantageous. This role requires a proactive individual who is committed to maintaining high standards of service while ensuring the safety and satisfaction of all hotel guests. Effective management, leadership, organizational, and communication skills Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs Ability to work a flexible schedule of weekends and holidays
