We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chief Engineer to lead all engineering and maintenance operations for the hotel. This role is responsible for overseeing the preventive maintenance program, maintaining building systems and hotel equipment, managing pool operations, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for guests, and leading the day-to-day operations of the Engineering department. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can effectively manage projects, prioritize maintenance needs, lead a team, and ensure the property remains in excellent condition for both guests and ownership.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee all Engineering and maintenance operations for the hotel Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance program Manage daily repair and maintenance activities for guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and hotel systems Oversee pool operations and ensure all equipment and systems are maintained according to standards and regulations Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards and company policies Monitor and maintain building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life safety systems, and mechanical equipment Assist with hiring, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management of engineering staff Partner with the General Manager and department leaders to achieve operational and financial goals Manage vendor relationships and coordinate outside contractors as needed Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, local regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance-related guest concerns and emergency situations Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, inspections, and projects
Qualifications:
Previous leadership experience in hotel engineering, maintenance management, or a similar role preferred Hospitality experience strongly preferred; Marriott experience is a plus Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and general building maintenance Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and support a team Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced environments Must be flexible and available to work weekends, holidays, and occasional after-hours emergencies
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and perform physical maintenance tasks throughout the shift Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
