, Position Summary The Room Inspector is responsible for ensuring guest rooms meet or exceed company and IHG brand standards through detailed room inspections and follow-up. This role supports the housekeeping leadership team by confirming rooms are cleaned correctly, properly stocked, safe, and guest-ready. The Room Inspector is considered a entry Level management position and is expected to maintain professional leadership behavior, support department standards, and assist with communication between housekeeping staff and supervisors. Essential Functions Inspect guest rooms after cleaning to ensure cleanliness, setup, safety, and overall readiness for guest arrival. Identify deficiencies and re-clean needs, communicate corrections to Room Attendants, and verify completion. Ensure all rooms meet IHG brand standards and internal quality expectations. Report maintenance issues found during inspections and follow tracking procedures. Support room readiness by communicating priority rooms and quality concerns to Housekeeping leadership. Maintain guest privacy, confidentiality, and security procedures at all times. Uphold professionalism and serve as a role model for housekeeping standards and behavior.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge:
Room inspection standards and attention to detail required for IHG brand compliance. Proper room setup standards, including linens, amenities, cleanliness checkpoints, and safety concerns. Basic understanding of housekeeping chemicals and cleaning procedures.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues. Clear, professional communication skills when providing feedback or corrections. Ability to prioritize inspections based on arrivals, departures, and hotel business levels. Basic computer skills to assist with room status updates and documentation as needed.
Abilities:
Ability to work independently and make quality-based decisions. Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment. Ability to support department goals, standards, and productivity. Specific Responsibilities Inspect assigned guest rooms daily (including checkout rooms, stayovers, and VIP/priority rooms as assigned).
Ensure rooms are properly staged:
bed presentation, bathroom cleanliness, dusting, floors, supplies, and overall appearance. Verify that cleaning standards are met consistently and that deficiencies are corrected. Ensure all amenities and linens are properly stocked and placed. Identify, document, and report maintenance, safety, and lost-and-found issues following hotel procedures. Help maintain quality logs/checklists as assigned. Support training by reinforcing cleaning and setup expectations through day-to-day coaching. Perform other duties as assigned to support housekeeping operations. Working Conditions / Schedule Requirements This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and inspection of guest rooms. The Room Inspector are required to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on business needs. Physical Requirements Must be able to perform major life activities including standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating.
For this position specifically:
Must be able to push/pull up to 60 pounds. Must be able to lift/carry up to 30 pounds. Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours and frequently bend, stretch, reach, and kneel. Must be able to see, hear, speak, and read English (additional language skills are a plus). Must demonstrate professionalism, honesty, and trustworthiness at all times.
