Job Description

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Housekeeping Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department in our large, full-service hotel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction while leading a large team of room attendants, housepersons, laundry staff, and supervisors.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate the activities of housekeeping supervisors and staff across all hotel floors, public areas, and laundry operations. Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and appearance of guest rooms, public spaces, meeting areas, and back-of-house areas. Develop daily cleaning schedules and staffing plans to ensure operational efficiency and coverage during peak periods. Conduct daily room inspections to ensure compliance with brand standards and health & safety regulations. Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate performance of housekeeping team members. Maintain and monitor inventory of cleaning supplies, linens, and equipment; ensure proper storage and cost control. Manage departmental budgets and labor costs, including payroll scheduling and productivity tracking. Respond promptly to guest service issues and ensure timely resolution. Coordinate with front desk, engineering, and other departments to ensure room readiness and address guest needs. Implement and enforce safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures. Lead daily briefings, team huddles, and departmental meetings to maintain communication and morale. Monitor housekeeping KPIs such as room turnaround time, guest satisfaction scores (e.g., Medallia, SALT), and quality audit results.
Requirements:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in housekeeping management in a full-service or luxury hotel environment; experience with large teams preferred. Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a culturally diverse workforce. Strong knowledge of housekeeping procedures, cleaning chemicals, OSHA standards, and union environments (if applicable). Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills. Proficient in hotel systems such as PMS (Opera), housekeeping modules, and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Fluency in English required; bilingual (Spanish or other) highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with brand standards from Sonesta/Red Lion, Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, or similar major brands Certified Executive Housekeeper (CEH) designation a plus
